A "journey" of flavours in time
1912 welcomes you to an experience where flavours evoke the senses with the award-winning protected designation of origin (PDO) products of the Rhodian land, its traditions and the aromas of fresh herbs and spices.
Here is where the local traditional cuisine meets the modern gastronomy.

The history of Pefkos
The Lydians used to cultivate the land of Pefkos and graze their cattle. Their farms were rich in almond, grape and fig trees and they built one or two room brick houses to live in during the summer months when the weather was milder. These were equipped with the bare necessities: a large panga (wooden bed) and a wood-fired oven.
The origin of the restaurant’s name and the history of the family
Shortly before 1900, our family built the house where “1912” is located, one of the first houses in the area. It was a two-room stone house with a wood-burning stove, surrounded by a large courtyard with a well.
Like all Lydian houses, ours had a gravel floor and the date of completion, 1912, was inscribed near the entrance. This was the inspiration for the name of our restaurant.
Local traditional cuisine. Modern gastronomy.
Pastelaria with sesame seeds and roasted almonds, figs and almonds from the estate’s almond trees, grapes, raisins and sweet red wine from the vineyards were the main products that our family produced and traded with our neighbours during the wars in order to survive.
After the difficult years, our little house continued to be a meeting point of the family. A point of reference, the built-in fireplace where relatives and friends gathered for to bake. Until 1992 the phrase “let’s go to the house” was the family’s motto for the longed-for gathering. Since 1992 “TO SPITAKI” has been the name of the first restaurant that housed this building, until 2023, when my family and I take the baton and open our door, with the chef Zinonas Christofidis and his team. The contemporary techniques aim to stimulate your visual and gustatory senses and welcomes you on a journey through time of flavors that will be imprinted in your memory.
So, welcome and have a pleasant time!
